Nodus Sector II Sport - Men Wear Pink Edition Watch Review

The origin of this project came from the fact that StrapHabit has supported the American Cancer Society's MEN Wear Pink campaign since 2022. Thanks to the amazing StrapHabit supporters, we have raised over $90,000 through sales of pink watch straps. As many of you know, I've had my own brush with cancer. My mother also went through breast cancer, and we've recently lost a number of family members to this disease. Last year, we took things a step further with StrapHabit's first collaboration charity watch. The response was extremely encouraging, with the watch selling out within hours of going officially on sale.

The origin of the Sector II Sport - Men Wear Pink project with Nodus

For 2026, I wanted to keep the momentum going and use it as an opportunity to work with more friends at another one of my favorite brands. Nodus was the obvious choice. Not only are they some of my favorite microbrand watches, but I've gotten to know Wes and Cullen quite well through their Intersect shows, and they are great guys. When I proposed the idea to Wes, he said yes immediately.

Choosing a platform

We quickly reviewed the Nodus catalog and went back and forth on several design ideas. Wes ultimately suggested the Sector II Sport, which turned out to be the perfect option. Its 38mm case fits well on any wrist, and the expansive dial gave us plenty of options. Plus, it's the perfect "go anywhere, do anything" watch.

Making it the Nodus Sector II Sport - Men Wear Pink Edition

I created renders with different pink accents, but Wes suggested a pink stone dial. We found this to be the perfect way to remind wearers they supported the Men Wear Pink campaign while still creating a watch they could wear every day. We selected rhodochrosite for its attractive range of hues, from rose-red and raspberry pink to pale brown with white/cream/grey banding. Rhodochrosite is celebrated as the "Stone of the Compassionate Heart" or the "Soulmate Stone".

The other great thing about a stone dial watch is that no two watches are the same. While some stone dial watches feature subtle variations in pattern, rhodochrosite has dramatic striping and shifts in color. Not only was a small run of watches produced, but within that run, there will be a lot of variation.
As beautiful as rhodochrosite is, it's also one of the most difficult stones to turn into a watch dial. Rhodochrosite has what geologists call "perfect" cleavage, which means it has natural weak planes running through it in three directions, and it wants to split cleanly along them. It's also a relatively soft stone, so there's very little margin for error. To bring out the dramatic banding we fell in love with, Nodus had to cut the stone in a specific orientation, and that orientation put the cuts right up against those weak points. The thinner the slice got on its way to becoming a dial, the more likely it was to crack along one of those planes. More than half of the slices didn't survive the process, which is part of why each finished dial feels so special, and part of the reason why this is such a small run.

Once the platform and dial were selected, it was time to dig in on the small details that can make or break a watch. We started with the hands and indices. Because the standard Sector Sport offers great legibility, we decided not to mess with success. Depending on the dial color you select, you can get simple polished silver, or a black or gold coating on the markers and hands. We chose gold to add a bit of distinction, and because it complements the warm pink and brown hues in rhodochrosite.

Standard Sector Sport watches (as well as the Canyon and StrapHabit-equipped Nomad) feature a recessed section in the center of the dial. For the Tiger Eye stone dial model, Nodus applies a perfectly flat dial. This lets the stone's natural characteristics stand out more clearly, so we chose this strategy for the MWP dial. The chapter ring also matches the dial's color.

We considered a colored or bronze bezel, but felt the dial speaks for itself, and a brushed steel bezel would make this watch wearable in any situation

We also decided that the dial makes enough of a statement that we didn't need any MWP or StrapHabit branding on the dial side. We still wanted the watch to feel special, though, so the caseback features messaging only the owner can see. On the back, you'll find the StrapHabit logo engraved on the steel caseback, along with the Sector MWP model name. It also notes that this watch is a Nodus Design Lab project, is designed and assembled in California, and has 100 m water resistance. Finally, you'll find each watch's sequence number out of 100.

Wearing the Nodus Sector II Sport - Men Wear Pink Edition

The rest of the goodness of the Sector II Sport platform remains intact. Thick, polished metal applied indices add depth and are distinctive, making the watch easy to read. Adding 3, 6, and 9 numerals gives the watch a sportier look. I loved this look on my Nodus Canyon, and love it here too.

The faceted hands give them a more upscale appearance. Above them, you'll find a flat-top sapphire with a domed underside and blue anti-reflective coating.

The knurled crown is easy to grip, and the case sides feature the same slimming, polished chamfers that make the Nodus Sector Deep appear thinner and more wearable. It's 38mm wide by 11.7mm thick, despite packing a Seiko NH38 movement and 100 meters of water resistance.

All of my Nodus watches feature great lume, and the Sector Sport is no exception. A generous application of Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 Grade A fills each marker as well as all of the hands. It appears pure white during the day, and glows blue at night.

The Nodus Sector II Sport - Men Wear Pink Edition bracelet and strap

Each watch includes a Nodus bracelet with the Nodus Extension Module (NEM) clasp. NEM is the second-generation version of this clasp (my Contrail GMT, Deep, and Canyon had the sharper first-generation version). This new version features improved chamfers to soften the edges, a simplified yet beefed-up internal mechanism, and a sleeker design.

The bracelet itself is oyster-style and features female end links for extra articulation.

Because this is a collaboration with StrapHabit, Nodus included one of our straps, so each watch comes with a StrapHabit Deployant Sailcloth strap. This bright pink strap with white stitching is exclusive to the collaboration watch and is not available anywhere else. Both options include quick-release spring bars, making swapping a breeze.
