Swatch x Omega Moonswatch Mission On Earth Watch Review SO33G100

Nick Lehner

I recently purchased a Swatch x Omega Moonswatch Mission to Mars, and discussed why I wanted the Mars version to help make up for big regret. If you're looking for a full review of the Moonswatch and a comparison to the "real" Omega SpeedmasterI recommend reading that article. Later I also obtained and reviewed the Jupiter.

Most recently, I visited a Swatch store, and the Earth variant was the most interesting one available. I thought that it would be fun to experience the funkiest case color, and possibly pass it along to a friend who didn't have the opportunity to visit a Swatch store.

If you're specifically interested in the Earth and have already formed your own opinions on the Moonswatch line, this review will talk about the details specific to the Mission on Earth version (note that it is not the Mission TO Earth).

You can also visit this link to read any other Moonswatch reviews that might be posted to the site.

If you'd like to learn about some other great watches under $500, you can read the StrapHabit Top 10 list, or view other reviews of watches under $500. And be sure the check out our new NASA straps! They look great on a Moonswatch.

First Impressions:

It's quite interesting how Swatch has been able to create such a different vibe with each version of the Moonswatch just by changing to colors that correspond to a celestial body.

The Earth is possibly the most unique version, evidenced by its mint green case. In contrast, however, the white subdials give it appeal to traditional chronograph lovers.

In a likely tie to the earth itself, the chronograph hands are surprisingly brown. This is fun, however, because it means that brown straps will also look good on it, in addition to white and blue.

The Mission On Earth Details:

All Moonswatch versions have the same dimensions, Unlike the Mars, other variants like this Mission On Earth feature stick hands without lume for the chronograph subdial hands

Like all other Moonswatches, the Earth features the Swatch S engraved in the underside of the crystal, similar to the Omega greek symbol you'd find on a "real" Moonwatch.

Wearing the Moonswatch Mission on Earth:

All Moonswatch variants are quite comfortable due to the ergonomic Speedmaster case shape, but also their extremely light weight.

The white hour and minute hands on the Earth stand out against the dark blue dial, but can visually blend in with the white subdials. The hour markers are easier to see than on other versions though, due to the dark dial color.

The lume on all Moonswatches is a bit weak but legible and easy to read at night. The Luminous Elastic Strap gives it a bit of kick!

The Strap

The Earth's strap is of the same design as the Mars, but it is dark blue. It feels similarly flimsy, and a bit bulky, but it is otherwise lightweight and comfortable.

I've been wearing it on several StrapHabit straps, and have found dark blue and brown to be good colors. Here is a list of some of the straps that would fit and we think look great with this watch. At the end of the article you'll also find photos of some of our favorite combinations.

The Movement

All versions of the Moonswatch use the same Swatch quartz chronograph movement. And of course, the battery cover on the Earth features a photo of our home planet. I believe that all versions have the same text molded into the caseback.

Conclusion:

The Earth proves the versatility of the Moonswatch platform, and how many fun combinations Swatch can create merely by changing colors. It is an interesting one to wear, and a good way to experience the phenomenon of the Moonswatch.
