Vertex M100 x AWWC Watch Review

British watch brand Vertex is known for building durable and functional watches for hard-working professionals - the exact types of people supported by the Anti Watch, Watch Club. Thus, it was a natural connection for the two brands to collaborate on a watch. Because StrapHabit collaborated with AWWC on a watch strap, Zac from AWWC loaned me a few of his collaboration watches, including this Vertex M100 x AWWC Limited Edition.

If you're not familiar with AWWC, read the intro to the Jack Mason Strat-o-timer GMT: AWWC Edition watch review. In short, they are a non-profit group of volunteers with a mission to provide support to veterans and first responders through monetary, social, humanitarian, and emotional assistance.

I first saw this watch at the launch party in NYC in 2024 and fell in love with it. If you'd like to learn more and shop other AWWC products, visit the Anti Watch, Watch Club's website, or order a strap here.

Vertex M100 x AWWC First Impressions

The Vertex M100 series is styled after the original "Dirty Dozen" military field watch, but is a more authentic recreation than most. The Vertex brand (along with JLC, IWC, Omega, and others) was one of the original twelve companies to supply watches of this specification to the UK military.

Vertex M100 x AWWC Watch ReviewWhile the dial layout appears familiar (including the broad arrow emblem), the watch exudes a modern feel with its three-dimensional X1 Grade Moulded Super-LumiNova hour markers.

The traditional case is brushed all around. A sloped bezel meets a domed sapphire crystal with AR coating.

The matte black dial features a simple  Vertex logo over the traditional broad arrow. A railroad-style minute track sits around the outside.

To make this the AWWC edition, Vertex added the group's logo in white over the subdial and changed the second hand from white to red. A simple change, but I appreciate that they didn't overdo the branding.

There are no crown guards, and the ridged crown features an engraved and red-filled AWWC logo—a crown on the crown.

Wearing the Vertex M100 x AWWC

The 40mm diameter is in the sweet spot for most people. It features longer lugs, contributing to a height of 48.5mm. It should still fit well on most wrists, and the long lugs allow more clearance for pass-through straps.

It's also fairly slim, measuring 12.2mm in thickness.

The time is easy to read in all conditions. The thin-tipped minute hand makes it easy to set the time precisely as well.

The 3D molded lume is highly effective, and the inclusion of hour numerals makes it easy to read. I was worried that it would outshine the hands, but they are equally bright. There are also small printed lume plots.

Bracelet and Replacement Straps Vertex M100 x AWWC

The Vertex M100 x AWWC included a matching black rubber strap. It has a 20mm lug width.

The strap has built-in QR springbars. This makes swapping straps easy. My favorite strap for it is, of course, the AWWC x StrapHabit strap.

Vertex M100 x AWWC Movement

The M100A's movement is the Sellita SW260-1 in "Top" spec, the subdial seconds version of the SW200 movement. It features automatic winding like the standard version, the M100A (the M100 "non-A" had manual winding only). It features 31 jewels and operates at a 28,800 vph beat rate, providing a 38-hour power reserve.

The movement is an excellent choice for the M100 AWWC. It's a reliable movement that is easy to service, but has a higher beat rate and should be more accurate than most lower-cost Japanese movements.

Vertex M100 x AWWC Conclusion

Vertex watches and AWWC are a perfect match. The durable and high-quality military watch feel of the M100 complements the AWWC aesthetic. I really enjoyed having it on my wrist, and was glad to be able to supply a strap that works this well with it!Vertex M100 x AWWC Watch Review
